OH MY GOODNESS! I love, love, love doing photo shoots like these! There's something about doing fashion work that makes my heart melt, I love working with beautiful models like Tory who are rocking some beautiful outfits. Despite the super windy and cold day Tory did such a spectular job during her session, luckily I had my good friend Nikki help out with lighting and other things like that. I worked with Tory before for a school assignment and couldn't help bu ask her to model for me again in a much more relaxed, fashion shoot. She is so gorgeous and I'm super excited to start doing shoots like this again!
I got the chance to shoot an engagement session for such an adorable couple last week and I am very pleased with the pictures! First off, the locations where we shot the pictures were absolutely gorgeous and couldn't have been better. We shot a few of the first images downtown in Jamestown where we got some good street shots that had a nice quaint, urban feel to them. For the majority of the pictures we went to the Grandover Resort where they have a stunning golf course that get had a perfect view of the sunset. I used my umbrella flash for most of the shots until we began to lose more sunlight than I brought out a second flash and got some really nice shots of them just as the sun was going down.
Our next weekly assignment given to us in my small format class was to capture a street scene with one face in it. We had to be creative, create an interesting composition and capture a story within the image. The image above isn't the image I submitted for my assignment, I debated for hours between this one and the other one, but I still love this image. I like the levels in it between the three men, two smoking their cigarette while the other guy on the right has his between his fingers on his knee. They barely knew each other (I watched the one in the middle light his cigarette and the other two join him for a smoke break) and I found it very cool that the three of them could enjoy each other's company, without knowing each other, while smoking a cigarette.
