This was my first time shooting at Claxton Farms in Weaverville North Carolina, just a short drive north of Asheville it’s a perfect venue that’s easily accessible to your guests and allows you to enjoy an intimate wedding or a larger one with many friends and family! I’m a sucker for any venue that has gorgeous venues and several different locations for photos! Surrounded by rolling hills and mountains Claxton Farms provides photo-ready panoramic views for your wedding day that will also wow your guests! Claxton Farms also have an in-house catering service, M7 Event Solutions and Catering — having one less thing to worry about on your wedding day is also nice. Check out the photos below to see more of the venue and how Amanda and Megan made their wedding day unique and oh so special.
Amanda and Megan shared their first look by the pond on their property (which is also a working farm) which provides a nice, secluded area for couples to have private moments together away from the party. First looks are always fun to photograph on any wedding day and like I’ve mentioned before allows the couple more wiggle room with photos and getting to enjoy cocktail hour after the ceremony. Some of my favorite shots are of Amanda and Megan across the pond from me and getting to get a wide shot of the mountains surrounding Claxton Farms.
My career in the wedding industry is thankfully vibrant because not only do I experience photographing weddings I have also worked with a wedding florist for over a year. That experience gave me a deep knowledge and passion for florals and the art of creating floral arrangements for weddings. Needless to say that I look forward to flowers the most on wedding days and whenever I get to work with Blue Ridge Blooms I know there’s gorgeous to be an abundance of gorgeous blooms and arrangements.
Megan’s showstopping bouquet with stunning roses in blush and ivory was giving garden vibes and a dash of romantic, paired with Amanda’s sophisticated floral fan with dried florals and Pompas grass gave a touch of modern. I loved the juxtaposition of both bouquets and how it personalized Amanda and Megan!
Blue Ridge Blooms also made beautiful ground arbors for the ceremony, not to take away from the stunning backdrop of mountains, they were blue and pink with gorgeous greenery. With full blush pink roses, stocks of blue delphinium and touches of Pompas grass for texture the arbors were the perfect touch to their ceremony spot. It’s amazing the difference beautiful arrangements make to your wedding day, it adds a personal touch to the venue and makes your wedding feel more luxe.
My favorite installation was their sweetheart table, clustering all the arbors and arrangements together to adorn their sweetheart table. It photographed beautifully and added a lovely touch to their reception space. I also loved the personalize neon sign of their initials on the mantle over the table.
Claxton Farms’ ceremony space is one of a kind spot! With rolling mountains as the backdrop and a large flat green pasture they are able to accommodate large or smaller wedding ceremonies. Megan and Amanda made sure to make their family feel celebrated and loved the whole day and walked with both of their respective parents down the aisle followed by walking down the aisle together.
After Megan and Amanda said I do and walked down the aisle as a married couple they enjoyed their signature cocktails together and mingled with friends and family who had traveled to Asheville, North Carolina for their wedding. We did family formals at the ceremony site followed by some guest appearances from Claxton Farm’s famous llamas, notoriously Chocolate Chip, who is very friendly until they’re not!
I love a good first dance, a great way to kick off your reception and get your guests excited for the rest of the evening. Amanda and Megan had a surprise up their sleeves and did a choreographed dance together, ending it with a rendition of “You Don’t Own Me” from The First Wives Club — obviously they killed it, and it was so much fun to photograph! They continued to honor and celebrate their respective parents with special dances with each mother and father, before inviting the rest of the guests to the dancefloor.

With A Bride’s DJ Service spinning music during the reception, we caught the last few moments of sunlight and captured more photos of Amanda and Megan together having fun and taking in their amazing wedding day before dancing and celebrating with friends and family! Their wedding day was perfect in so many ways and I enjoyed photographing at Claxton Farms for the first time and hope to be back soon!
